Starting Location: Valleyview, AB |
Destination: Ft. Nelson, BC |
Trip Description: The weather today is sunny and warm. We were ready to leave at 10:00. Laura and I drove north from Valleyview, through Grande Prairie, to Dawson Creek. The small town of Dawson Creek is the starting point for the Alaska Highway. There is a visitor information center in town. The Alaska Highway is a 2 lane road through British Columbia (B.C.), the Yukon, and Alaska. There are services about every 25-50 miles. There are very few people or houses once you leave the small towns along the route.
We decided to stop in Ft. Nelson for the night. Tomorrow, we should make it to Watson Lake, in the Yukon.
. We are moving northward each day. It is 11:15 PM and there is plenty of light outside. That makes sleeping difficult. |
