Date: Friday, August 8, 2003 |
Starting Location: Oklahoma City, OK |
Destination: West Memphis, AR |
Trip Description: Our first stop this morning was to the site of the Oklahoma City Bombing (1995). There is a memorial to the victims, survivors, and rescuers. Hopefully, the same type of memorial will be built in New York City.
We had a wonderful breakfast at Cracker Barrel®. I had "Grandpa's Breakfast". This was an assortment of healthy favorites such as chicken-fried steak, grits, hashbrowns, buiscuits and gravy, and 2 eggs. Laura had biscuits and gravy. We made good progress across Oklahoma and into Arkansas. The scenery looks more like home. The eastern part of Arkansas has rivers, lakes, and many farms. Today, we went to the Blue Beacon truck wash and cleaned up the RV. Six weeks' worth of grime came off, leaving the RV looking like the day we started our trip. The end of the day brought us to Tom Sawyer's RV park, on the Mississippi River. Tomorow, we plan to drive through Tennessee. Sunday, we should complete the trip and arrive home. |
