Destination: Long Beach, CA |
Trip Description: Today, we rented a convertible and drove around Los Angeles. We first drove to the NBC Studios in Burbank. There are no tours given on Sunday, so we took a couple of pictures of a Days of Our Lives set before getting lunch at El Pollo Loco (The Crazy Chicken). We enjoyed the food. It is similar to Baja Fresh.
After lunch, we headed to Hollywood. We walked along Holywood Blvd. for awhile and saw many stars. The stars we saw were on the sidewalk. We did see some impersonators along the way. There's a lot going on in Hollywood, even on a Sunday afternoon. Our next stop was Beverly Hills. With a minimum amount of trouble, we found ourselves riding down Rodeo Drive. There are expensive houses all over the area. The shopping opportunities are numerous along Sunset Blvd. and Rodeo Drive. We didn't bother stopping. It's not our thing. We wanted to go to the beach before heading east. Laura and I drove south on Sunset Boulevard to Santa Monica. The traffic in the area was bad. We cruised down the road, past the famous Santa Monica Pier to Venice Beach. Parking was expensive, and it was crowded, so we decided to visit the beach near the RV park in Long Beach. The trip south to Long Beach was pleasant. The traffic was lighter, and it was beginning to cool down outside. Both of us got a little sunburned today. We got to the municipal beach and parked. Laura and I walked along the beach for awhile. The water was not nearly as cold as it was along the Oregon coast. After about 1/2 mile, we called it a day. We returned to the RV park to relax. The hot sun took our energy away. I prepared the grill for some steaks, then Laura and I went swimming for awhile. We ate steaks, with mashed potatoes and gravy. After dinner, we cleaned up the kitchen before relaxing for the evening. It was a long day. |
